Culinary Experiences with Enjoy Tradition (The “Uživam tradicijo – Enjoy Tradition” project)
Culinary experiences make it possible to explore different destinations through contemporary cuisine and culinary heritage and are among the experiences we remember most about the place we visited. Adventures may or may not be enjoyable, but we certainly remember them. Culinary experiences are such an extremely important part of every country’s tourism offer. All this also applies to Slovenia and Croatia. In both countries, there are several cross-border projects linked in terms of culinary content. Among them is the project Enjoy Tradition of culinary transversal from Pannonia to the Adriatic – in short Enjoy Tradition. The project is part of the Interreg V-A Slovenia – Croatia cooperation program in the 2014-2020 programming period and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The project (https://www.uzivam-tradicijo.eu/en/) is the result of the work of 8 project partners from Slovenia and Croatia: Biotechnical Educational Centre Ljubljana (BIC Ljubljana – Leading and Project Partner), PARNAS Institute for Culture and Tourism , Velike Lašče, Grm Novo mesto – the Centre of Biotechnics and Tourism, Naj Tura LtD. (Slovenia), Public Institution »Žumberak – Samoborsko gorje Nature Park«, Association for Healthy Life and Healthy Nature “Trbuhovica” Prezid, Vrsar Tourist Board – TZO Vrsar and Zagorje Development Agency – ZARA (Croatia). Associated partners are also involved in the project: Public Institution Tourism Ljubljana, The Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana, Potters’ Village Institute Filovci, Samobor Museum, Economic, Commercial and Catering High School Samobor and Museums of the Croatian Zagorje. In addition, during the course of the project, High School Zabok and other various institutions joined the project in carrying out various activities…
The project lasts for 30 months and ends on December 31, 2019, but we continue the activities of the project partners in different ways.
The area from Pannonia to the Adriatic, respectively from Prekmurje to Istria is rich in cultural and natural monuments, from museums to nature parks … Due to its diversity and intricacy with intangible heritage, which includes, among other things, the heritage of culinary culture, customs, traditional crafts, heritage is crucial for the development of tourism in the area. The main goal of the project is to establish a culinary transversal – providing visitors of events, festivals, workshops and culinary tours in different areas of this heritage, in collaboration with heritage communities consisting of local food and service providers, volunteers, students and teachers from different schools and other institutions, exciting experiences through stories of tradition, customs and cuisine. The essence of the project is in activities related to cultural and natural heritage and its inclusion in the tourist offer of the area that is part of the project. The project contains a large part of contents related to the discovery and preservation of the rich culinary heritage, but also to its adaptation to the trends of modern times.
One of the activities of the project is this web-based mobile application (website) which will help visitors or users of the website to culinary experience Slovenia and Croatia in a different, educational way. Here you will find various recipes from the culinary heritage of the area covered by the project, from Prekmurje to Istria, as well as other parts of Slovenia and Croatia. Culinary heritage is difficult to confine to a specific area, since in some places there are great similarities in the preparation of dishes. Culinary heritage will be presented in its original forms and also adapted to contemporary trends. In addition to the recipes, you will also find many other attractions related to the project, natural and cultural heritage, as well as various events, festivals, workshops, tours on the aforementioned transversal, which we will carry out in the future.
So welcome to follow us!
